Casa Dolce

Casa Dolce

In June of 2010 a newcomer from Central Greece arrived on the island of the Winds. A confectioner, Nikos Koukiasis by name, he opened Casa Dolce, which quickly joined the list of places where you can sample the very best ice creams in this country.

It did not take long before Nikos evolved from pastry chef to a sorcerer who manages to capture every imaginable taste and transform it into ice cream. This he accomplished not by using powders but by producing with his wife, Margarita Tsakiridi, the raw materials themselves. Thus, for Nikos, the conventional classics - chestnut, lemon, strawberry, kataifi etc. - and whatever is the current fashion, did not suffice. Instead he turns his fertile imagination and abundant knowledge to the creation of the most unusual and unexpected international flavors, such as wasabi, stracciatella, cookies, Black Forest, tiramisu, etc, but also mainly local tastes. Inspired by local Mykonos specialties, he has developed ice cream from spicy kopanisti cheese, amygdalota (crushed almond sweets), apple pie, grape must biscuits, tsoureki (brioche-like bread), and even tzatziki and feta!

If Nikos is the Alchemist and artist of the ice creams, his wife Margarita, always laughing and on the move, is responsible for transcending the limits of more traditional sweets. She makes the best galaktoboureko on the island, for example, while together they turn sumptuous cakes, chocolates, sorbets and other sweets into works of art.

Although Casa Dolce has become a heaven for all lovers of ice cream and sweets in general, with their creations featured in selected restaurants as well, and although their reputation has gone way beyond the borders of the island and of Greece itself, Nikos and Margarita remain humble and grounded, hospital and hard working. They make you feel at home and this is why they have been adopted by the 'difficult' locals who by now think of them as family.

Casa Dolce's sweets are made daily - in small amounts so they are always fresh - with fresh Greek milk, fresh, seasonal fruit - in their state of the art kitchens which conform to all the specifications set by HACCP for organic products.

The shop / atelier is located on the ring road of Mykonos town. Open every day from morning until late evening, Casa Dolce has become one of the 'musts' of the island. Taste, art, edginess and morals all in an ice cream cone.
