Dew in Ktikado

Let's start without a lot of spins. THE Drosia tavern on Ktikado of Of Tinos is one of the best taverns I have met in the Aegean.

The reasons are many:

First of all, the village of Ktikados, is a small traditional and very picturesque village, near Chora, high above Kionia. The route between the traditional houses with the lintels, the churches, the narrow cobbled alleys, the arches, the fountains and the laundries, predisposes you.

You enter from the street directly to the tavern Drosia.

The aesthetics of the high level store, an authentic folk taste. Aegean colors, beautiful ceilings, paved floors with lime borders, flowers on cute tablecloths. Nothing bad taste, nothing sophisticated. And from there you go out in the yard and you see a spacious terrace, in an oasis of green, overlooking the Aegean and in the background Syros.

Tasty dishes. Their basis is artichokes in pickles, in pies, or as a citizen but also in omelette. Tinian goat, chickens and an excellent cod garlic. Meatballs with a strong taste of mint, salads with sweet local tomatoes and capers. Kitchen and pan for kissing.

We had a conversation with the tavern owners, Mr. Vassilis Krontyras and his grandchildren: "Before the war, the shop was just a small grocery store and served straws, olives, no herring. My father in the 1950s put a little kitchen and brought, I remember, the weekend instruments. The 1970 I took over, I did the expansion and I got it to where you see it ".

While we were talking, a group of 15 people came from Mykonos for a one-day trip to Tinos. And they had chosen the tavern Drosia for the food.

"We have many scheduled groups from Mykonos. "People who come to our island to find homemade food."

Harry - the eldest grandson - told us and they hurried to get up to serve.
