Melidou Winery

The Melidou Winery is a small estate of 40,000 sq m, located to the northeast of Sidirokastro near Serres in a delightful 'secret' valley.

Most of the vineyard is bordered by a stream, which flows winter and summer. Lined with tall plane trees, it makes for a very favorable microclimate which benefits the organic production of a limited amount of high-quality wines.

The winery got its start in 2000 and already today it can claim six labels, of which Black Swan is of special note since it is different every year: the name is given to the best wine of the harvest, regardless of type.

At the international wine competition in Berlin in 2017 their Chardonnay was awarded first prize, although it had never entered a competition before!

Besides Chardonnay, the Melidou Winery also cultivates red Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, white Malagouzia and Assyrtiko and a Syrah rosé, while it also produces an exceptional natural sweet wine (from sun-dried grapes) and has plans to make wines from forgotten local varieties.

The Melidi family, headed by Mrs. Evangelia, is always present to welcome visitors with a smile. Gracious and hospitable, the owners will guide you around the vineyard, the lush banks of the cool stream, and tempt you with homemade nibbles - their home is on the premises, along with the hen house and other animals - that make you feel as though you have stumbled upon a tiny corner of paradise.
