The Patistis winery is a family winery in Argalasti of Pelion. The Patisti vineyards, covering an area of 60 acres, are located at the southern foot of Mount Pelion, on a narrow strip of land between the Pagasitic Gulf and the Aegean Sea, where from 1980 The local varieties Xinomavro, Roditis and Limnio are organically cultivated, followed by the planting of new vineyards with the varieties Assyrtiko, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

The 2001 the winery and the 2014 at the highest point of the estate a visitable place for tasting and wine tasting, while in 2015 the first oil bottling took place.

We visited Patisti estate of the homonymous family. Around a hill with a view of 360 degrees, unfolds northeast the Aegean and in the background Skiathos, west the beautiful village of Argalasti, south Pagasitikos and Trikeri, north the lush Pelion and we felt at least visually the power of the landscape and the terroir.

Here we met two young lads, assigned to their work and place, the Andreas and Konstantinos Patistis full of fun enthusiasm for their venture and spoke to us:

"Organic practices have been applied in our vineyards since 1980. This is done, on the one hand because we believe that these practices offer the best possible result in the production of our wine, on the other hand we show in this way our attention and care in our virgin farm.

Η organic farming nourishes the soil, enhancing the diversity and vitality of microorganisms, thus improving the health of the vineyards and the complexity of the grape flavor. We never use inorganic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Instead, we rely on practices, such as compost production, to increase the activity of microorganisms in the soil.

Our vision is to explore all the wine potential of this amazing place, to become an example to engage young farmers in the area with organic viticulture and of course to help our visitors to understand the culture of our area through crops and traditional food".

The Patistis winery produces 20.000 bottles of wine, 20% retail, 60% wholesale and 20% exports while 10.000 liters are sold in bags in the taverns of South Pelion to offer an honest local wine to their visitors.

The example of the Patisti family is followed by others in the surrounding area to the great satisfaction of the two pioneering young people who may enjoy their dream, South Pelion to become a wine tourism destination.
