Tarsanas in Kechries

Tarsanas in Kechries is a place of peace, a place without music, a forgotten paradise and I explain immediately.

To reach Kechries, which is 13 kilometers from its city Skiathos, takes the road to the North. The northern beaches of Skiathos do not have the abundant sandy beaches and beauties of the South of the island. They are exposed to meltemia in August, but they have a grace.

They have carried their virginity and in general, traveling the roads with little traffic, mainly dirt, you live the Skiathos landscape as it was before Tourism discovered it.

The first 10 kilometers for Kechries is the public towards Κάστρο, the medieval castle city, the old capital of the island and one of the most beautiful sights of Skiathos.

The route to get there is really beautiful, as you travel among tall pines, olive groves, oaks and spruce. There you turn left and descend towards Kechria beach, on a difficult but passable dirt road, leaving in your right hand the puppet church of Agia Anastasia and next to it one of the many Byzantine frying pans (a network of towers that sent signals from one end of the Aegean to the other) of the island.

Purified by the beauty, at the mouth of the small river - which has water in winter and summer - you meet a beautiful and sweet sandy beach, where in the old days there was a shipyard. This name was chosen by Argyris to make his paradise on his grandfather's estate and in the place where his father had a shack on the beach, from the typical of the 80's, and offered pomegranate, rustic and eggs with french fries.

At some point the grandfather sold the estate, Argyris in 2000 takes over the shack and the 2016 he is granted within the estate the exploitation of an elegant modern stone building that functions as a tavern kitchen.

From there on, Argyris creates. Utilizes water and after the beach creates a natural lawn, between rocks, trees and terraces, where he places the sunbeds and higher the tables and benches, all made of tree trunks!

The water of the river is also used for a shower after the sea bath, which comes out through a sculptural wooden construction. Plenty of cool water, to wash as long as you want, without worrying about spending it.

Argyris put the same taste in food. Not many things, but unique. Two boats bring from the shore, direct day fish, lobsters and octopuses, but often you will also find various shells. Salads, seafood spaghetti, a beautiful wine list where the bottled wine of the island is not missing.
