Panagiotis Tsitsas narrates his adventure (video)

Ο Panagiotis Tsitsas This makes it a perfect choice for people with diabetes and for those who want to lose weight or follow a balanced diet. 2007 planted one vineyard of 250 acres. The result today is that there is one of the most beautiful single vineyards in the country and a new dynamic winery company with the name Rira.

Conversation with Panagiotis Tsitsas - Greek Gastronomy Guide

Leaving the Rira winery located in the plain of Seliniatika we made a short - ten minutes - but difficult route and climbed with 4x4 to the top of a hill at an altitude of 400 meters. There we found ourselves in a unique spectacle. A 360 degree view revealed most of the beautiful vineyard of Egialia. The vineyard, 250 acres - but located on a larger property of the company with a total area of 1200 acres - we cross it around the periphery, but with a more interesting route the point of the ridge where the two sections of vineyards are visible. We reached pthe highest point of the hill, where an old small stone storehouse has been transformed into the eagle's nest of the owner - as he typically says it -, where he welcomes his friends and visitors to the estate.

The view from here is breathtaking. From the two windows you can see at the same time the Corinthian in the north and the mountains in the south. Life Observatory I would characterize it. Here in this elegant refuge, Panagiotis Tsitsas, drinking his weakness, the rosé wine 2 roses (Grenache rouge and Syrah), told us about his adventure.

"I was born in the village you see across from Arravonitsa in 1941 from a rural family. After the army I left abroad where I live to this day. There I met good wines, visited many wineries and my dream was to one day get one. In 1990 the purchase of farms in this area was completed and since then the problems with the Greek administration began. Finally we planted in 2007 and in 2010 we made the first winemaking. Our goal is to highlight through the creation of single-variety and multi-variety wines the inexhaustible potential of the Greek vineyard. (…) Our wines already participate in international competitions and win prizes ".

Conclusion: The perseverance and love of Panagiotis Tsitsas for wine and the place weighed more on the scales than the bottomless weight of the Greek bureaucracy.
