The Mobile is a small seaside village of five hundred inhabitants, on its west side Syros, about ten minutes drive from Ermoupolis. It used to be known mainly as the spa town of Ano Syra and a few years ago as a fishing village with a beautiful sandy beach and one of the most picturesque and quiet tourist settlements of the island. For the last five years at least he has had the privilege of having it perhaps the most interesting hangout of good food on the island, the Allou Gialos.

In the place where years ago there was on the shore a small traditional house that housed a cafe and until ten years ago a colorless tavern, his dreams were housed Giannis Lieas and Lina Fournistaki, who created the Elsewhere Glass. Without disturbing the humble building, beautiful roofs and pergolas with white awnings were formed along the beach and so between the existing tamarisk trees and the pots with mint and basil, a lovely courtyard was built, two steps from the beach with unparalleled sea views .

"I grew up in the kitchens since I was little", Lina tells us, "I remember my grandmother, my mother with atherin pies, (which, I, the delicacy, although he does not do it often anymore, because he does not find atherina, I convinced her and she made me one, which after I recorded its preparation, I enjoyed it!), the pasteliers and my father pig carcasses. In fact, at one time we had a family tavern in Delfini that worked with a generator. I wanted to rebuild this yard here. "

In Allou Gyalos you will find fresh fish and seafood - the port with the fishing boats is 200 meters away - but also cooked, of the "oven and cauldron" as he describes them, a series of pastas, and finally meats of the hour. Their cuisine from year to year moves from the traditional to the creative space, both in content and presentation, always based on fresh local ingredients.

Imaginative salads, with the first and best "Allou Gyalou" with arugula, tomato, onions, rusks and fresh sour cheese. In the appetizers you will find from the humble chickpea salad, to french fries drizzled with roasted tomatoes, pieces of feta or local white cheese and grilled octopus sliced with peppers, galotyri and fennel and of course the coveted, potatoes with minced meat culminating in a ball of galotyri!

The mussels steamed in resin and rosemary are excellent, as are all its cooked meats.

Either for a snack between the dives, or for the lunch that follows a pleasant bath, or for a night out at Allou Gialos you will be welcomed by a group of young people in the kitchen and in the service that will give you unforgettable experiences.

If you want to visit it in the evening, you may need to book a table. It is open daily from noon. Allou Gialou will be closed from the end of October until next spring.
