Bakoya Café

Ο Gialos - this is the name of the sandy beach of Chora Mykonos located in the old port - is for the people of Mykonos the favorite place to take their morning walk - before the tourists get flat - to ventilate, to shop Baxevanika, from the farmers who bring them every morning directly from their orchards, or to choose from the fresh marble baggy fish. Here they will exchange their good days and drink their morning coffee.

The only cafe that withstood this storm - perhaps because it is not right on the beach, but also because it is small - is the Bakoya Café, the old Crab hole.

The only authentic cafe in Mykonos belongs to Dimitris Bakoya from Trikala, who arrived as an immigrant on the island in 1970 to work in the mines of Mykobar. At the end of the decade he takes over the cafe and for about forty years he holds the price of the island… From the morning the Vassiliki, Dimitris' wife, in the kitchen, nearby and her daughter h Silver, and her granddaughter h Put it on. Bakoya's cafe I have known it for the first time since it first opened. I preferred the winter, in smoke, laughter, teasing. Here were frequented only locals, fishermen, sailors but also villagers.
