Mrs. Leni's cafe in Krokos

Traveling from her city Of Tinos to Kato Meri and to the valley of Komi in a turn of the road on a ravine is the Yolk, a small village village that is now inhabited by about 10 inhabitants. There on the horseshoe formed by the road and on the bridge of the ravine, in our left hand, is the coffee of Mrs. Leni.

Tastefully arranged, with pleasant colors in the yard and inside, it welcomes you decorated with pots full of flowers and herbs, while a wooden sign in the garden written in chalk, informs you about the main delicacies of the cafe "Special dishes, salads, appetizers".

This cafe has a long history. It was founded in 1950 and since 1970 it has been operating with the lady Eleni Delatola and was called Rematia Coffee Shop. Mrs. Eleni, as long as she lived, was the one who made it famous with her presence and her cooking and especially her napkins. In 2007 it was received by her grandson o Antonis Zalonis. The Mrs. Kalliopi, daughter of Mrs. Leni, and mother of Antonis, helps in the kitchen and the father in the garden to bring fresh vegetables.

Hangout for passers-by, to drink something to quench their thirst, a cup of coffee to unwind, but also for some lentils to make fun of their hunger. The dishes of the cafe, just Tinian. For the ouzo or the local fennel, the variety that includes the characteristic products of Tinos is suggested. Local cheese, artichokes of oil, louza tiniakia, sausage (raw garlic sausage), homemade kopanisti, capers and dolmadas gialanzi from vine leaves. Antonis, willing and polite in serving, will suggest the well-groomed ones fruit trees single or double (omelets with plenty of eggs) in various versions with sausage (salted meat), sausages, potatoes, vegetables but also the most delicious meatballs and fried bread made with doughs fried in various fillings. In the list you will also find pumpkin pies and salads and other goodies accompanied by homemade river wine.
