Miga Estate

The Miga estate is a creation of Dimitris Migas. Located in Tyrnavos in the family vineyard of 120 acres in the location «Old Vineς », in the valley between Melouna - end of the mountain mass of Olympus - and Titarisios, one of the most important tributaries of the river Pinios.

At the beginning of the 2000s, at a time when the winemakers-distillers of Tyrnavos were focusing on the production of tsipouro, the then young Dimitris Migas, impressed by the "new wines" of Drama (Lazaridis, Pavlidis) turned to wine. Coming from a family of distillers who had their own distillery, he made his revolution and went his own way.

The result of this apocalypse is today the wines of Dimitris Migas to "travel" throughout Greece and Europe, carrying the aroma of Tyrnavos to the most important wine markets, and its winery to be the best place to visit winery-distillery in the area of ​​Tyrnavos.

Philosophy at the Miga Estate is on the one hand the promotion of tradition and on the other hand the application of modern technology, so as to produce quality wines. In order to apply every achievement of modern technology in winemaking, but also in the maturation and preservation of his wines, Dimitris proceeded to an amazing investment for the data of the region, creating a model winery, which is visitable and contributes the most to wine tourism. of the area, being a lever of development of the area of ​​Tyrnavos.

The varieties cultivated are the French Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, but also the Greek Roditis, Bandiki and Moschato Tyrnavou. An ally in the top quality of the estate wines is the mild continental climate and good soil drainage.

In basement cellar of the winery the wines are aged in oak French barrels and it is worth noting that the area is connected by an underground tunnel, 500 meters long, which reaches the bank of the Titarisi, transferring all the moisture of the river, so that the maturation of the wines takes place in completely natural conditions.

Visit to the Miga Estate It starts with a short tour of the vineyard, a tour of the production, bottling and aging areas and ends at the special tasting room of the winery overlooking the wine cellar.
