Cavino Winery

The company Cavino has been active in the field of wine and beverage production since 1958 when it was founded by Konstantinos Anastasiou and Ioannis Douskas. The location of its modern winery is in the northwestern part Aegialia, of the prefecture of Achaia, next to privately owned vineyards, where the wine tradition reaches back to the years of antiquity.

The supervision of all Cavino vineyards, privately owned and cooperating, is done under the strict control of agronomists specialized in viticulture. Their constant care and scientific monitoring leads to high quality winemaking grapes that utilize the indigenous varieties such as Roditis, Lagorthi, Sideritis, Agiorgitiko, Mavro Kalavritino, the famous Mavrodafni and the international varieties such as Sauvrahon, Chauvrdon B, Cabernet Sauvignon.

The stainless steel tanks of the Cavino winery, with cooling coats for constant temperatures during fermentation, the underground air-conditioned aging cellars, with low oak French barrels, the state-of-the-art automated bottling lines and the complete bottling and the company's passion for producing high quality wine.

The capacity of Cavino results in the acquisition of the International Quality Certification ISO 9002 (1999) and the German standard HACCP & IFS (Higher Level).

The wines of Cavino participate every year in international competitions and win the highest prizes in their categories. The Cavino winery was named the best Greek wine producer in 2009 by the "International Wine & Spirit Competition", one of the most important international wine and spirits competitions, awarding it the "Best Greek Wine Producer Trophy".

The same interests Estate Mega Spilaio, at the 21st km of the road that connects Diakopto with Kalavrita, produces a limited amount of high quality wines, is located in a location of stunning beauty, at an altitude of 880 m and overlooking the gorge of Vouraikos. The history of the vineyard and the old stone winery essentially begins in 1550, as it is directly connected to the monastery of the same name, which in itself is an exceptional attraction of the area. The estate and the winery were used by the monks and the must was transported by mules to the cellar of the Great Cave and poured into barrels of 500 liters. The vineyard was abandoned in 1980 and the replanting took place in 1999 when Cavino received it on a long-term lease from the Monastery. Here in the beautiful vineyard of 100 acres were created the great wines Estate Mega Cave Syrah, Estate Mega Cave White, Mega Cave Moschato, Mega Cave Kalavrita Merlot, Mega Cave Cuvee III White, Mega Cave Erythos Cu.
