Art Café in Prodromos

Until recent years, for its visitors Paros, the Forerunner, the picturesque village with 300 inhabitants, was known for Tsitsanis tavern, one of the oldest taverns on the island, where in winter and summer it served the people. Only Tsitsanis is located just outside the settlement and so, few visitors entered its labyrinthine alleys.

The Artistic cafe until then, he offered only coffee and a light snack to the hikers who had to pass in front of him, when they ended up in Prodromos after their two-hour journey on the Byzantine road, coming from Lefkes.

Until a few years ago, the Art Café changed its address and took over Antonis and Maria. Both advanced and young, they gave a new breath to the cafe and transformed it at once. They took out tables and thanks to their appetizers and hospitality they became sought after.

Ο Antony  undertakes to bring from the sea the seafood (bubbles, famines, sea urchins), but also squid, cuttlefish, octopuses etc.

Η Mary is the boss, at least in the cafe. In winter, when Paros is full of visitors, the main traffic is the cafes, the orange groves, the ouzos of men who play backgammon, watching the matches. In the summer, the cafe transforms and the goldsmith Maria cooks by herself, takes the orders, takes out the bills, with the help of Antonis she manages everything.

The appetizers many and special. The cuttlefish with fennel, the stuffed squids, the cooked octopus, the frying pan, the livers stand out, but also the daily revitada.

Other times, improvised parties are held, because they both own music and song. In the Art Café of Prodromos, one lives moments from other eras. And thanks to that, the people who visit it know and fall in love with Prodromos.
