Livadi Tavern

Η Livadi beach in Schinoussa is a small sandy embrace with tamarisk trees to offer their shade and green-blue waters. After you swim and enjoy the sea, a hundred meters from the beach is the Livadi Tavern waiting for you to taste the wonderful dishes that the Evdokia Nomikou. Dishes simple, but delicious based on local ingredients, local meats, vegetables, fresh fish and of course the famous rope fava.

«I started cooking 13 years ago. My husband, Christos Nomikos was a shipwright in Perama. He had a dream to build this shop. We started it and he put all his taste, he made all the wooden tables you see, he finished it 2009, and a few days before we opened, he left suddenly from the heart. He did not manage to drink a single coffee here…».

As Evdokia tells us her story, her two daughters, the Popi and Peace work tirelessly to serve customers who are already sitting at the tables on the spacious terrace. Irini, who studied accounting and chef at the Chefs d 'oeuvre, is in the kitchen preparing the dishes, while Popi, an architect who works in Athens and comes every summer to help with the shop, is serving.

Her son, Nikos Nomikos, is a dentist with clinics in Athens and Schinoussa, an active member of the Community, "soul" of the Fava Festival and in charge of volunteers, while this year he became Deputy Mayor of Schinoussa.

"My children were born in Keratsini," says Evdokia. "Those who emigrated and went to work in Athens, when they made money, returned and invested it on the island, mainly making rooms for rent. My husband started the rooms next door in 1996, now we have 10 and the whole family works on them ".

Evdokia is a beautiful woman with a smile that spreads optimism and strength. From her hands come foods such as: Schinoussa fava with its sweet and fluffy taste, braised octopus with potatoes, salad with cherry tomatoes, arugula, xinomizithra, braised soutzoukaki, saganaki eggplant, saganaki shrimp, etc.
