Golden Tselapos Hemp

Η Golden Tselapos Hemp located in Tower of Santorini and is the result of the collaboration of the famous winemaker Giannis TselepouBy Gold family which has privately owned vineyards of 120 acres in Pyrgos, Emporio, Megalochori and Akrotiri of Santorini, while it also had an old abandoned canvas Pyrgos.

Ο Giannis Tselepos - with George Skoura, Vangelis Gerovasiliou, Angelos Iatridis, Angelos Rouvalis - belongs to the group of Greek oenologists, who in the late 80's after studying in France (Bordeaux, Dijon) made their own wineries and gave a new impetus to Greek wine.

Coming to Greece as an oenologist, he bottled the first modern Mantineia at the Nasiakos winery in 1981, later collaborated with Costa Antonopoulos creating the "Antonopoulos Vineyards" and the "Antonopoulos Mountain Estates" two wines that left an era. Soon after, he built his own winery in Mantineia, later a second winery in Koutsi in Nemea and recently the winery in Santorini.

We met Giannis Tselepos on the newly renovated canvas of the Chrysos family in Pyrgos, where this year's Assyrtiko (2016) is being vinified.

"The Tower had hundreds hemp that others sank, and others became hostels. We decided to make it a small winery that will produce quality wine. For me personally, Santorini is a place that should only make premium wines. Small wineries for very expensive wines that will travel abroad, is the future of Greek wine in Santorini.

After Mantineia and Nemea, we responded to his challenge vineyard of Santorini.

The revival of the privately owned centuries-old vineyard, with traditional methods - with payments - began after the 2013 harvest and continues to this day with the aim of restoring yields of 400 kg per acre, from the 130 kg that was until now.

In the new stainless steel tanks, the must enters each vineyard and in the process the blends are made. The first two bottles (2014, 2015) of the label Santorini Tselepou they did not do badly, as they received the extremely high score 94/100 from Parker. Their annual production did not exceed 12.000 bottles, while the capacity of the winery reaches 50.000 bottles.
