Vangelis Gerovassiliou

If you have a feeling that floods you as you walk around Gerovasiliou estate is perfection and completeness!

The Gerovasiliou Estate is a creation of Vangelis Gerovasiliou which in 1981 began the revival of the 25 acres of family vineyard in the area of Papamola Epanomi, about 25 km southeast of Thessaloniki, Greece and today it has exceeded 750 acres (one of the largest and most beautiful single vineyards in the country).

In the area of Epanomi, which has been inhabited continuously for almost 6.000 years and where winemaking has been witnessed for about 1.500 years, Vangelis Gerovassiliou planted Greek and international varieties in his vineyard. THE Malaguzia Which was vinified for the first time by Vangelis Gerovassiliou - and Assyrtiko are the Greek white varieties of the Estate. The Limnio - the oldest Greek variety that is in production until today, which is also mentioned by Aristophanes in the 5th century BC. - the Black and Mavrotragano are the Greek reds. Also, the French white Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier and red Syrah and Merlot.

The winery and the estate of Gerovassiliou are the pride of Greek Wine Tourism, because regardless of its large size it is very friendly with its visitors, as it welcomes them in the center of the estate, in the beautiful pavilion with a unique view of the vineyards, among monumental works of art by Greek artists, such as "The Grape" by Costas Tsoklis, in the garden, "The moon" by Kostas Varotsos in the vineyard and "The horizon" by Kostas Varotsos.

All the wines of the Gerovasiliou estate are produced from grapes of the privately owned vineyard and are Local Wines of Epanomi, while it is no coincidence that most of his wines have been awarded international awards and distinctions

In terms of labels, they stand out Gerovasiliou Estate (the top marriage of Malagouzia with Assyrtiko), the single-variety Malagouzia, Sauvignon, Viognier, Syrah, Chardonnay and the Evangelo, Avaton.

Leaving the Wine Museum and Gerovasiliou Estate one is dominated by many pleasant emotions. First of all, an admiration for the inspirer and creator of all these achievements, Vangelis Gerovasiliou. Secondly, you realize the multiple dimensions of wine over time and space and of course the role it played in the social, economic and symbolic life of the universe and especially of Greece. Finally, you feel that there are creations in Greece like those of Vangelis Gerovassilios where they have nothing to envy from their European counterparts. And this is very comforting and good for our health.
