The tavern Nero kai Alati in Platys Gialos is its natural evolution Narli Estate. This is because on the one hand it is the shop of Alexandros Narlis, the son of George Narlis who created the most beautiful estate to visit in Sifnos, but also for the reason that the production of the estate with the anhydrous products feeds daily with the freshest the kitchen of the store.

A shady terrace on the shore is a wonderful setting to try Alexander's cuisine. When you open the menu, you read it first legend of the tavern:

«Water and Salt. The two necessary ingredients that grandmother Flora used to create delicious dishes from the products of our farm.

The 1946 our grandparents, newly married and in love with the only weapon in their lives, the love for each other, began to cultivate the estate without water! Despite their efforts, against the hard soil of Sifnos, they could not find water.

At a depth of 15 meters and then it was impossible to proceed and no water was found. In other words, they had made a dry well. So they slowly began to digest it again. Then the idea was born to create one dry farming estate.

For three generations, we here at Narlis Farm we grow rare and special varieties of vegetables, legumes and fruits… The restaurant Water and Salt is in a way a tribute to my persistent and creative grandparents. Our goal is to create special dishes based on the traditional flavors of the island using the organic products produced by our Farm… ».

Ο Alexandros Narlis is no accident. He was born in Sifnos with strong references to his place, and then studied Business Administration in Crete. In the army in order not to eat immune foods, a battalion cook decided to play it. And he succeeded. That's where the idea stuck. He continued his studies in London, but there he became involved in gastronomy, food marketing and finally ended up in Hay-on-Wye - a village between Wales and England where one in ten buildings is a bookstore - where he was in charge of a very gourmet restaurant for 4 years.

The 2014 created "Water and Salt" with a very good cuisine.

In the winter, Alexander works on the estate and, among other things, makes ceramics, samples of which we see beautify the tables of his tavern.
