Η Sifnos is a medium-sized island in the western Cyclades. It is located between Serifos and Kimolos. It is about 130 kilometers or 80 nautical miles from Piraeus. It has an area of ​​73,942 square kilometers, a length of 15 kilometers and a width of 7,5 kilometers. Its coastline is about 70 km long, and has a permanent population of 2,625 inhabitants (2011 census).

Sifnos has a long tradition in pottery and cooking, as it is the birthplace of Nikos Tselemente, the leading Greek chef of the 20th century.
