Η Sifnos is a medium-sized island in the western Cyclades. It is located between Serifos and Kimolos. It is about 130 kilometers or 80 nautical miles from Piraeus. It has an area of 73,942 square kilometers, a length of 15 kilometers and a width of 7,5 kilometers. Its coastline is about 70 km long, and has a permanent population of 2,625 inhabitants (2011 census).
Sifnos has a long tradition in pottery and cooking, as it is the birthplace of Nikos Tselemente, the leading Greek chef of the 20th century.
