And while in recent years the prices of raw milk to livestock farmers are declining throughout Greece, the Kalavrita Cooperative supports and sometimes increases the price of the producer, thus maintaining and strengthening its livestock activity.

Along with its effective interventions in the market of feed raw materials, it ensures for the producers - breeders the necessary supplies (animal feed, fertilizers, veterinary medicines, seeds, etc.) so that they can cope with the very increased cost of milk production.

Ο Agricultural Dairy Cooperative of Kalavrita is the evolution of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Kalavrita, founded in December 1963 by the cattle breeders of the region of Kalavrita and who in 1972 founded the milk processing factory for the production of cheese products, producing since 1974 the traditional barrel feta known as "Feta of Kalavrita".

From 1982 until 2007, the Kalavrita Cooperative joined four (4) development and investment programs for the modernization of its dairy, a fact that helped it meet the demand of the largest retail chain "Sklavenitis" with which it has exclusive cooperation. since 1983.

The products of the Cooperative are:

The traditional Barrel Feta PDO, which is available exclusively in the Greek market and is breathtaking, thanks to its special taste and its non-negotiable quality. Produced from pasteurized goat's and sheep's milk with high and stable quality. It matures for about three (3) months and is kept in wooden barrels with brine. It tastes rich, spicy, slightly salty, with a variety of aromas and is compact. It is consumed as table cheese, but it is also used in salads, pies, food.

That's it goat cheese, a traditional white cheese from 100% pasteurized goat milk collected from the wider area of ​​Kalavrita. It matures for about three (3) months and is kept in metal tin cans of fifteen kilos (15 kg) with brine. Special taste, slightly spicy, with excellent use as table cheese but also for salads, pies, food.

Η dry mizithra a traditional whey cheese from sheep's and goat's milk with a rich taste with tons of dry butter, usually spherical in shape. Dry in a closed dryer for at least five - six (5-6) days. It is used grated in spaghetti and chopped in many foods.

The cream cheese a whey cheese made from sheep's and goat's milk. It tastes fresh, sweet, cool with aromas of butter and milk proteins, consumed fresh, soft as a table or with honey, in pies, salads and sweets.

Ο Agricultural Dairy Cooperative of Kalavrita, the pride of the Peloponnese annually produces about 3.100 tons of cheese (2.400 tons of feta, 600 tons of goat cheese and whey around 100 tons), absorbs milk from 1500 breeders, employs 60-70 people and thus is the determining factor for maintaining and stimulating local employment and of course for the development of the local economy.
