Taverna Piges on the Planet of Kalavrita

At an altitude of 700 meters, a few kilometers from the caves of the lakes, in the beautiful plane tree forest of Planetero and at the point where the Aroani river they are ΠηγέςThe tavern of the Rigogianni Family.

The Planetarium is a popular destination in Achaia for nature lovers but also for good food lovers.

The Planetarium area is located within the area Natura 2000 "Mount Helmos and Stygos waters". Most of the plane tree forests belong to the forest department of Kalavrita and to the Association of Mills, Water Fills and Fish Farms of the Planetarium. The only forest with hyperbolic plane trees (in some old ones the diameter of the trunk reaches 4 meters), the water mills - one of which is still operating - and the sources of the Aroani river with the waters gushing through the rocks make the Planetero a favorite destination even for a day trip. And while nature lovers enjoy the scenery or take the paths to Kalavrita or Elafotopo or Durduvana, food lovers will come to eat the trout raised at the area's two fish farms.

The most beautiful seasons on the Planetarium It is in the summer when the foliage of the plane trees cools down and in the autumn when the foliage creates nice earthy colors.

The last tavern, right in the springs of Aroani, are the Πηγές. We also met them three generations of the Rigogiannis family. Grandfather Athanasios, son George and grandson Thanasakis who fished for the trout we ate!

The family is a productive system in itself, since it maintains fish farm, 300 beehives, about fifty sheep and goats and gardens with vegetables.

In the tavern - fish farm Sources between the plane trees and the waters, we enjoyed the homemade cheeses and salads, the smoked trout that is smoked in the facilities of the fish farm, the delicious tomatoes of their garden and of course roasted, the trout that the fish caught us.
