Santikos Mansion in Vyzitsa

In the historical Vizitsa, one of its most famous villages Pelion, about fifty meters from a beautiful square, with the 3 centuries-old plane trees, we are welcomed by the haughty Santikos Mansion, an imposing stone three-story building with sachnisia, built in the 19th century (1863).

The 1980 EOT started a great program of restoration and restoration of the old mansions in historic settlements of architectural interest throughout Greece (Zagorochoria, Mani, Pelion, Santorini) after at the same time characterizing them as protected. In Vyzitsa, EOT requested in principle 7 mansions by their owners to renovate them and then rent them. The efforts were successful, the mansions kept their appearance unchanged and contributed significantly to the tourist development of the areas.

This particular mansion has since functioned as a guest house and the 2003 purchased from Santikos family (Santikos collection with hotels in Alonissos, Skiathos and recently in Piraeus) which proceeded with a complete renovation to create a hostel of high aesthetics, which was missing from the wider area.

Each bedroom acquired his own personality through the play of colors. The room "Ikaros" is dressed in shades of blue, the room "Eros" in shades of peach, the maisonette "Pandora" in beige tones and the room "Chloe" in cypress color.

The most interesting place is the living room on the top floor, the so-called summer being, a typical example of Pelion architecture. The light is diffused in the space through the 20 small decorative windows (with the typical stained glass style for the traditional architecture of the area), while the large windows offer a great view.

Breakfast is one of the strong assets of the mansion of Santiko which was also one of the first hotels to join the Greek breakfast of the FDI.

The soul of the mansion is Mrs. Anthi from the beginning of the operation of the mansion prepares daily special pies (vegetable pies, pumpkin pies, cheese pies, potato pies, etc.) homemade jams, fruit salads, natural juice than anything else - from Pelion apples, cakes and sweets starring milk pies, milk pies and milk apple pie with the "spicy" dough and the buttery taste.

The top points of the mansion, which is noteworthy operates 365 days a year, is the highest part of the courtyard and the upper windows of the summer being, from where you can gaze at the panoramic view, with the foreground the stone mansions of the village and in the background the olive groves and the calm sea of the Pagasitic gulf.
