The Estate of Eleni Kypraiou in Aegina

On Eleni Kypraiou I met her at an event - specifically in presentation of the Greek Breakfast of Aegina. Her interventions, her radiance brought me closer to her, and the next morning I had accepted the invitation for a visit to her estates.

We drank coffee with her goodies in her mansion, where I learned that her grandparents were from Hydra and because they had participated in the struggle of 1821-28 they received as a reward a large area in Perivolla (where and her estates) and suggested that we visit them. At 8.30 in the morning we started and through some goat dirt roads we arrived at our destination with her farm truck. That is where the ordeal began, in front of which Eleni is like a ibex with her legs climbing on the rocks and dry stones to show me her new acquisition, her new beautiful estate in the Katopides and to explain to me how she has to maintain the terraces because they fall, how she drilled, how she plowed the estates etc, etc.

Her four products for which she is very proud - besides of pistachios produced from 750 almond trees - are the following:

  • peanut oil rich in Ω3 and Ω6 ideal for dressing in salads and fish
  • peanut butter without the slightest trace of preservatives
  • pistachio crumb ideal for mixing flours, sweets and savory
  • agoureleio from olive trees grown with an integrated plant protection program

I forgot to tell you that the Eleni Kypraiou She is 79 years old, but her soul is more teenage than many teenagers. In 2005, when she finished her career as a journalist, she settled on her ancestral lands and decided to become a farmer. Now a few words about her CV before making the decision to become a farmer.

Η Eleni Kypraiou of Demosthenes was an actor, writer and the first Greek TV presenter. The wife of the journalist Christos Filippidis was born in Athens on March 4, 1937. Her teacher in music - piano was Filoktitis Economidis. But later he continued his musical studies at the Conservatory of Lyon in France. He also studied at the Department of Philology of the Sorbonne University, as well as at the Drama Schools of Girard and Simone and at the Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris. He worked in the Greek radio EIR (1957-1966), in television (1966-1972) and in the National Theater (1958-1966).

To say goodbye, I base her last conversations:

"In culture, the truth counts. I like to fight honestly and I only have that with the earth. You do not find that in humans. There is no injustice on earth, whatever you give you will get. ”
