Petras Grocery in Aegina

At 7 Panagi Irioti Street, on the first parallel road from the beach, a few meters from Aegina fish market it is located Petra Grocery, since 2016 one of the oldest shops of her city Aegina. In the old, Petras grocery store the customer has the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of dishes in selected labels of small producers from all over Greece but also to taste them outside the store. Inside the store we read on a wall the history of the store:

"100 years and σε the grocery store on the beach of Aegina was started by Ioannis Petras of Andreou (Manavias) a nickname that comes from Smyrna, the place of origin of Zoe's wife, where the greengrocers were called greengrocers. So after 100 years the Petras grocery took its new form, after a very beautiful renovation, starring the old colorful floor tiles, old objects and photos of the Petras family and of course dozens of beautiful products in the showrooms and hung from hooks, create , an atmospheric and cozy space similar to the traditional neighborhood shops and grocery stores of the 50's. Commando do now o Giannis Petras and his wife Rania Kornaraki who, despite their studies, fell head over heels in their family business.

With the new grocery-tavern scheme, Rania was given the opportunity to develop her culinary talent - samples of which were unprecedented for 7 years, in Aegina pistachio festival, where with a dreamy company, with common goals mainly gastronomic, he highlighted it and made it an institution - and to present us with delicious flavors.

From the appetizers that Rania prepared for us, we singled out:

I plate it with Greek cheeses (fresh, ripe and smoked), cold cuts (grilled, boiled, smoked and spicy) garnished with olives, cherry tomatoes and Aeginian capers, salad,

the carob nuts with barrel mizithra, grated fresh tomato, fresh olive oil and oregano,

the Aegean garlic, with bread, garlic, lemon, fresh olive oil and roasted pistachio of Aegina,

the frittata (potato in the grater fried) and served with Aeginian fried egg yolk and freshly cut Karamanlid beef pasturma,

the Caesarea pie with pastroma, cheese, tomato and Florina pepper,

the beef kavourma, in the pan passed for 1΄ over high heat, quenched with lemon and served with dill,

and meatballs juicy pork and mutton served with crispy pita and tomato.
