Organic Corinthian raisins dried naturally in the Shadow

At Papaioannou family the cultivation of vines has always been a tradition. From 1876 and from generation to generation, the whole "culture of the vineyard" passed through wine and Corinthian Raisin. The 90-year-old Thanasis Papaioannou, its founder Papaioannou Estate is rightly considered the "guru" and its pioneer Nemea. In the 80's - when Agiorgitiko went anonymously to the big wineries or arrived as a bulk of unknown quality in our glasses - Thanasis Papaioannou made the big upset. With vineyards of 570 acres, following organic cultivation, it is one of the first producers, who conceived and promoted the idea that wine must retain its special characteristics, which come from the variety, the location of the vineyard, thus imposing in its area the type of wine of quality classic Nemea.

So when one of the youngest members of the family, George, decided to become active not only in the cultivation of Corinthian Raisin, but to take it several steps further, following in his grandfather's footsteps, the results could only be impressive.

The idea of the project for black gold or as indicated on the package as Golden Black was and continues to be the great quality differentiation of the produced product as well as its hygiene. So, from the endless conversations with grandfather Thanasis, George learned about how drying of Corinthian raisins in the shade.

"Big difference in quality", were the words of the grandfather.

This is how the shadows were made or otherwise "Shades" as the old people called them and the first experiments were done. THE organic cultivation of vineyards, "Came and tied" with the quality effect of drying in the shade - giving an extra hygiene to the product - and the excellent packaging.

And all this led to the creation of a successful product - together with its derivatives, such as Corinthian raisin jam with mastic tear, raisin dish with ouzo aroma, petimezi - which wins distinctions in Greece and abroad.
