Estate of Palyvos

George Palyvos

The Estate of Palyvos which includes the homonymous winery is located 800m from its important archeological site of ancient Nemea and is one of the most famous, qualitative and historical in the area.

Ο George Palyvos is the soul of the estate and is never complacent. He is constantly experimenting, both in the privately owned vineyards of 300 acres with the cultivation of new varieties, as well as in the vinification with new methods. It is no coincidence that it is one of the producers that offers a wide range of different wines from Agiorgitiko, which includes from dry fresh, or aged wines, to sparkling and sweet.

An additional strong point of the estate is the hospitable production area. From 1995, that the traditional family winery has been transformed into a beautiful boutique winery and is one of the most visited in the area. During the tour of the Palivos Estate the visitor lives a complete wine experience, with special screenings, a tasting seminar and a dinner with wines

George Palyvos is the first winemaker of an old viticultural family of Nemea.

It has the 2nd largest vineyard in the area, while its winery was the first to be organized and visited, and today welcomes about 4.500 visitors from Greece and abroad annually.

From an early age, he focused his efforts on exports, with an emphasis on Central Europe, the United States and Canada. Recently, however, he decided to turn his attention back to Greece, where he sees that a wine culture is slowly but steadily beginning to be created, and to Cyprus.

His philosophy comes from the man who buys and enjoys wine. Typically, he says: "We start with the wine, and go for grapes". He often represents Nemea, but also Greece, in international exhibitions, competitions and other events and initiatives.

As a local Nemea, he is worried because he wants Greeks and foreign wine lovers to know and love Nemea. Also, a strong Nemea is envisioned domestically and internationally, which will keep the youth of the region in the field of wine, and will ensure the continuation of the tradition for many more generations.
