Ouzo Menelaos

The Διαπορι is the port of Tsimandria and is the isthmus of 300 meters of land that connects the Fakos peninsula with the rest Lemnos. It is assumed that the width of the isthmus was not always so large and that the Lens it was once an island. Today, in this picturesque and quiet port you will find beautiful fishing boats, small carnagas, some trunks of abandoned boats that remind passers-by of their old glory. Ouzeri Menelaos is housed in a low and humble elongated building parallel to the sea. Its yard is defined by two rows of trees, the first by acacias and the second by mulberries. All the trees, with whitewashed trunks, create a thick hospitable shade overlooking the calm sea of ​​the creek. Wooden tables with wicker chairs and a couple of groups of fishermen drinking their ouzo prepare us for the good things to come. And these are the Stavros and Gina, the wonderful hosts.

Far from the typical courtesy, their service is warm and welcoming. Stavros, who is very sociable, describes the dishes of the day: black-eyed beans, grilled sardines, married fava, saganaki with their own dark cheese, flomaria with grated cheese, zucchini from the vegetable garden, cuttlefish cooks and fish, whatever the boats bring us every day.

The local wines, red and white in bulk, are extremely fragrant in their category.
