Caprice Restaurant-Bar

On a beautiful cobbled path, a few meters behind the port Hydra, is located since 1994 Caprice Restaurant-Bar, the restaurant-reference point for gourmets, Greeks and foreigners, who visit the island.

Caprice's kitchen combines genuine Italian recipes slightly "teased" with traditional products from all over Greece. Its constant value is the pizza, with handmade thin dough (like the Italian one) and seasonal ingredients, but also the wide variety of fresh pasta. The dishes with aquatic seafood, squid, sea urchin, lobster and delicious filleted fish are extremely inspiring. The cuttlefish risotto is excellent, as is the linguine with fresh sea urchin.

The owner, Vassilis Kokkos, was from a child spaghetti. A very good cook himself, he grew up in a family that loved pasta very much. Vassos Kokkos' grandfather had sponge boats, and the restaurant was the storage area for sponges. The paintings on the walls, the original nautical paintings and the old tools and equipment used by the divers in the sponge shops, are the decoration inside the shop, heirlooms that unfold the family's naval past.

The ones tasty choices curated by Vassilis (with cook Lefteri Rousso), always giving basis to the freshness of the ingredients and transforming the seasonal ingredients into imaginative and delicious dishes.

Ο wine list was created and updated with taste by him, with many Greek and Italian labels, while from sweets, high light of the store is the traditional Hydra almond (from the recipe of Vassilis's grandmother) with vanilla ice cream, but also the authentic tiramisu.

"In the last two years we have placed more emphasis on seafood. From meat, our beef burgers and our tagliatelle (finely chopped beef fillet, on arugula and parmesan, with a little truffle) are favorite dishes ".
