In the heart of its port Hydra, on the wide and shiny paving of the waterfront and in the shadow of the bell tower of the Metropolis of the island, there is the Plate, one all day restaurant which is open all day offers an ouzo with a meze, a rhythmic lunch or a dinner by the sea.

A huge awning - one of those sliding on wires that is a unique patent in Greece and applied only in Hydra - gives the necessary shade to protect yourself from the hot sun of the island, to enjoy your aperitif or appetizers and to admire the movement of the port: The comings and goings of the sea taxis on the nearby beaches, the souls of the visitors, the steps of the cargo animals and market life.

The Plate is a creation of Antonis Naoum, an Athenian businessman who since 2016 settled in Hydra and in collaboration with Hydra Michalis Neophytos The service offers traditional appetizers, fresh salads, delicious fish and seafood and meat from the grill.

The store policy provides a wide range of delicacies to meet all tastes and desires. Although this is quite risky, The Plate, faithful to its policy and its name, offers its customers a variety of 80 dishes! The Plate operates 9 months a year from spring to autumn and in the spacious interior of the building one can see on the walls a beautiful collection of dishes painted by customers on real food plates with special indelible markers provided by the store.

Some dishes are works of art, others have them celebrity signatures, such as members of the Kennedy family, Kohen, Kate Moss, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Vivian Westwood, Hydra Panagiotis Tetsis and others. Antonis's idea, for the dishes that are created by the customers as they wait for their food, caused, in addition to the beautiful decoration, also interesting happenings.
