Ο Giannis Rappas with his wife Iphigenia Bakratsa chose to give this name to the store they opened (with partner Katerina Neophytou) on the beach of Hydra 2000. It is one of the first shops you come across when getting off the ship as soon as you arrive at Hydra. It stays open all year round, something very important for the permanent residents, who do see their beautiful island flooded with people during the summer or the three days, but in winter they have to manage the loneliness of another Hydra, calmer but also more deserted.

"We never close", says Giannis that he is not missing a single day from the store. "We only closed one day when a close relative died. We remain guards on the rock. Winter is hard here ".

Giannis - named after the grandfather of Giannis Rappas, the popular self-taught painter of Hydra - with his wife Iphigenia, who has studied tourism management, wanted to make a brown where one can drink his coffee and drink, drink fresh juices, smouthies and all kinds of teas, eat fresh delicious salads and well-baked pizzas, have a snack or enjoy a well-groomed breakfast.

"It simply came to our notice then weight at breakfast, we have Greek breakfast, tithe and Mediterranean breakfast. With good Greek products, Greek cheeses, we are looking for Greek companies with which we have exclusive collaborations, such as Geodi with jams, Royal Deli cookies, Food Cross honeys. All these years we try to get better every year. We do not have gourmets, but we cater to all tastes. With honesty, simplicity and love», says Giannis.

In the cafe Isalos they will serve you immediately with a smile and you will have the opportunity to meet him George Bokia and Stelio Bakratsa -champion of mountain running races-, which has been the trademark of the store for years. A family shop that honors and respects Hydra and its customers.

And my boss honors it and visits it every day - when I am in Hydra -, at least for the morning coffee that includes all the news of the island!
