Oinoscent Wine Bar
Wine bars are the means by which Greek wine met again with the general Greek public. In the period of life-style, for a moment people believed that the enjoyment of wine belongs exclusively to an elite that had the financial ability to enjoy Greek quality wines at exorbitant prices in restaurants. This created a snobby legend around Greek wine, which at the end of the first decade of the 21st century, began -thankfully- to be overturned by the wine bars.
Here the wine is sold at reasonable prices, and is even available in a glass, so with 3-6 € one can enjoy the richness of Greek varieties, while at the same time coming in contact with the people of the wine-bars who are presumably passionate with wine and transfer their knowledge to young wine lovers.
The Oinoscent was the first wine bar that opened, in 2008, in its center Of Athens, near the junction of Voulis Street and Admiral Nikodimou, four hundred meters from Syntagma Square. First it started as a wine cellar, it developed into a bar and in 2012 it was transferred across, Parliament 45-47. The main feature of the store is its aesthetic purity and spaciousness. Its only decorative element is a huge bottle formed by the calligraphic and in series writing of the names of the Greek and foreign varieties.
The logo of the store is also an oblong letter Omicron that ends up in an abstract bottle.
They prefer Oinoscent intellectuals, tasters, artists and businessmen, Greeks and foreigners, living in Athens and generally those who love the off Broadway side of the Constitution as here they can enjoy their wine in peace in a happy and quiet environment.
Of course, the main advantage of the store is that from here you can buy at a good price a sought after Greek wine for the home but also to try world wines, when the other wine bars prefer only the Greek vineyard.
It is worth visiting the amazing cellar in its basement for a tour of the largest collection of Greek and foreign wine-bar labels of the Center and of course one realizes the love and passion that the owner Danis Dear and his associates.
Another asset of the store is its kitchen, where the chef Christos Boukas, known for its restaurant in Elafonisos, serves, in addition to a variety of cheeses and cold cuts, creative cuisine.
