Cafes in Pityos

The mountain village Pitios is located 27 km NE of her city Chios, has 250 inhabitants, most of them cattle breeders, and it is worth visiting for the its two cafes, which reserve for the visitor some small but unexpected surprises.

George's cafe

The first is Cafe by George at the emba of the village, just opposite the impressive Primary School that was transformed into a beautiful and functional hostel.

George's Cafe in winter it offers coffees and soft drinks, but from Easter until autumn, it arrives as Persephone, George's niece, Evi Katsioni which with the magic hands makes 3-4 appetizers which is to lick your hands. Evi could not be accommodated in Athens and the "supposedly" were very tired and so together with her uncle she took over the family cafe and finally, as she told us, "here she found herself»!

The lentils are few, one and one: hand spaghetti with braised goat, vermicelli with deep-fried goat, traditional village pies, oil yogurt, pickles, sardines salted with herbs, saganaki with goat cheese and tomato and lemon jam, dessert spoons and fruit jams with fruit.

The cafe of Stelios Fekos

One hundred meters from the first square, in the second square, on the road to the castle of Pityos is the cafe of Stelios Fekos, the only thing left of the ten that existed - side by side - fifty years ago.

Small built in a medieval building, it is probably the most puppetry of Chios. It does not have opening hours, but it is worth an attempt to visit, as in a museum, because luck may reserve for you elite dates (Chian trumpets), azure, cheese and tomatoes, all produced by Mr. Stelios Fekos.
