The canteen in Livadi ton Kalogira

Η Patmos, except for the unique Castle Monastery of Agios Ioannis the Theologian, the cave of the Apocalypse and the traditional settlement of Chora with its unsurpassed mansions, is also famous for its beautiful coasts. Bays, big hugs, but also tiny coves with cold crystal clear waters, sandy beaches, with pebbles, often with tamarisk trees that create small oases to rest and enjoy your swim. A large lace describes the island giving a solution for all tastes, as it has been estimated that the outline of the coast of Patmos is proportionally ten times larger than that of Greece in terms of its mainland.

The most charming beach for my tastes is his Livadi of Kalogira. And this is because it is located in a secluded place and because before you reach the beach you meet a meadow that surrounds the deserted monastery of Panagia and where there are fields with irrigation ditches and vegetables, ie a sample of rural life.

At the edge of this beach, on a small hill, is probably located the most beautiful canteen I have ever seen in my life. Covered with reed foliage and surrounded by reeds it creates a small niche with a sea view opening. The contents of the niche is a garden of dozens of pots with basil, colorful rags and cushions for seats, painted pumpkins with beautiful colors and paintings with beautiful tankers. It is her gift Katerina to her husband Vangelis Kamitsis who, with her painting talent, gives him joy, reminding him of his previous life when he was a sailor on ships, ten years before they built their canteen in Patmos.

In terms of appetizers, the canteen in Livadi ton Kalogira offers refreshments, ouzo appetizers and whatever emerges from the adjacent gardens. An unexpected little paradise and a very gentle and hospitable couple, on an infamous but beautiful beach of Patmos.
