Marivon in Iliokastro

Marivon Restaurant - Maryvonne Restaurant

At the foot of Mount Aderes, at an altitude of about 200 meters and at a distance of 7 km from Ermioni is the Iliokastro (Caracas) a rural and livestock village of 500 inhabitants. In this infamous village is its most famous restaurant Hermione, the famous Frenchwoman Marivon or French Maryvonne.

What does the whole jet-set that lives on the famous beaches of Ermioni, Costa, Agios Emilianos and Porto Heli do half an hour to come and dine in remote Caracas?

But obviously what happens everywhere. For one separate food, in one separate environment worth sacrificing a little travel time.

At the entrance of the yard you first meet it George - Marivon's husband - where he either deals with the grill or the wood oven. In the first they are baked the juiciest and tastiest meats of Hermione while in the wood-fired oven mainly bread kneaded by Marivon's hands, lamb and baked potatoes. Under the canopies of the courtyard, rotundas for 12 people and large tables welcome the respective groups. The lighting sculptures from vine trunks are works of the craftsman George.

The interior of the ceiling has the seal and finesse of Marivon. A romantic style, not at all sophisticated and an atmosphere of the French countryside. Everywhere, in sculptures, on paintings, on the cover of the catalog, the trademark - even in the oven "coque au vin" - the rooster that reminds us of the homeland of the "tavern owner".

The cuisine is selective and the dishes are few but dialectal. That makes a difference in Marivon. You will find the dishes of the day - or side dishes even if your company places an order in advance - one better than the other.

Garlic bread with goat cheese as seals for starters, carrot soup with truffle oil, salad with arugula, tomato and onion with balsamic sauce, fennel with parmesan sauce, pouch with manouri, jam with onion and parsnip with onion and parsley and of course the milk steaks, the beef and the fillets, all from the magical hands of George. If the food moves in the Mediterranean area, the sweets are absolutely French: mousse au chocolat and ile flottante.

"From Lille, France, on the border with Belgium, I came to Porto-Heli for a vacation, I met George who worked there in Hydra Beach, we fell in love and I dropped anchor. We did various jobs but in 2004 we took George's paternal home, here in the village, and with passion we built this tavern. We now work here with our two children, Hector and Matina-Lora with passion and love and our customers appreciated it ".

She just described it to us recipe for its success giving us her open-hearted smile which was also one of the secrets of her success.
