Cavo Kortia in Kyparissi

Leaving Monemvasia and pulling along the North, it crosses the beautiful Reichia, Harakas and from there, passing the winding turns, under theoretic rocks, you descend the slopes of Parnon and after an hour you reach the edge of the world, the magical Cypress.

At a distance of 1,5 km from the village of Kyparissi, in front of the picturesque port of Agios Nikolaos and next to the popular beach of Agia Kyriaki, is the Cavo Kortia complex of the Traiforos family. Stone-built, built according to the style of the area and the local architecture, 13 studios and apartments, divided into four small stone buildings, frame the famous tavern, which is often visited by boat, even from Hydra and Spetses. in order to enjoy them lobsters cooked by Christos Traiforos and enjoy the unique view of the veranda to Myrtos, the three beaches of Megali, Mikri Ammos, the beach of Ag. «Our grandfather Aristides has had a tavern in the Diocese since the 1950s (one of the three districts of Kyparissi, the others were Paralia and Vrysi). We used to deal with animals when we were little. The place and the surrounding villages produced olives, oil, locusts, cheeses and coals which they transported with animals through paths in the port, loaded on the boats and from there to Piraeus. In 1973 the road arrived and in 1976 the electricity. At that time Kyparissi had 17 taverns. Our father bought in 1990, the space here, it was a stanotope. Along the way because it was in a deserted place we made, young then, a disco, and when we got serious about 2005 we entered into a development law and made what you see.

Everyone who works here belongs to the family. Me, my brother Panagiotis and our sister Irini. Our children number 9 work and each of them has his role, for example Nikos has studied confectionery and makes sweets and ice creams, with milk of course ours, goat. The oil is from our olives, as well as several vegetables. In the port of Agios Nikolaos in front of us, there are two fishing boats that supply us with fish, lobsters, octopuses, squid. Our customers recognize our effort and our hospitality, we have many repeaters, but also many who come by boat from afar, to enjoy our cuisine and the beauties of our place.»
