Yard Restaurant in Lixouri

In Grigoriou Lambraki, on the quiet pedestrian street -first parallel of the coastal port- and Iroon Polytechnic, is located the Courtyard, the favorite restaurant of Lixouri.

Its creators, the Moschopoulou sisters, 4 years ago they received their father's tavern, renovated it and today they can be proud of their achievement. To challenge travelers from all over Kefalonia, to travel to Lixouri to try the menu of the Courtyard, to enjoy its creations Alikis Moschopoulou and to enjoy the hospitable atmosphere of the open room where the Maria Moschopoulou.

And all this without any promotion and advertising, except only from the well-known and valid street. By word of mouth, as I learned from the recommendations of the two important winemakers of Lixouri, Charitata and Vlavis Sklavos, people with taste and opinion.

The space is warm, simple without frills, a well in the middle reminds of the previous use of the yard, and makes you feel comfortable from the first moment you enter.

The dishes in the Courtyard one better than the other, a successful marriage of traditional and classic Greek dishes with dishes from fine dining, Greek creative cuisine in its beautiful moments. Of course, it is worth mentioning that Aliki Moschopoulou, after finishing her studies in cooking, worked close to Tassos Mentis, the Michelin star winner, at the Chytra restaurant and now uses all this knowledge and experience.

From the moment you hold in your hands the list of the Yard, you understand what awaits you. The description of the dishes in a simple but also in a clear way, catches your attention. The dishes, one more interesting than the other, you want to order them all, because each one has its own special, original touch!

From the salads We singled out Mixed (green with slices of orange, avocado, dried fig, pastel and citrus dressing), Ampelofasoula (with radish, zucchini and Katiki Domokou), and Choriatiki (with feta made by the family, kritagama and pik).

From first I singled out Kalamari (on tarama with unsweetened beans and kritama -excellent taste but also composition-), Octopus (with fava pickle onion, and capers)

From the classic greek recipes I singled out Moussakas (ragout beef with smoked eggplant), the Kefalonian Meat Pie, the Chicken (with potatoes and mustard sauce).

Finally from more "wanted" flavors stand out Lavraki (barley in fennel broth and roe of Messolonghi), Tsipoura (with onion puree, onion pickle, lemon jelly) and Sfirida (with deep fried greens, cockroach broth and coconut milk).

Dialect cuisine, atmosphere and service very warm and cordial, very reasonable prices, wine list from Kefalonian wines. What more could a good man want!
