Molfetas Museum Hotel

Ο George Molfetas (1871-1916) was a satirical poet and publisher of the satirical newspaper "Weed" in Kefalonia, a fanatical reader of which was Eleftherios Venizelos, while Souris did not hesitate to say that Molfetas was superior to him.

The building in which the hotel was built in 1895 and includes 6 large rooms. The walls are 60 cm thick, the doors and windows are made of heavy stone sculptures (lintels, thresholds, lintels), untouched by time. Inside this traditional, preserved Kefalonian house of 1895, one of the few mansions of the village that did not collapse in the earthquakes, the Katerina Dimas set a goal to revive the way of life and habits in the standards of a family 114 years ago.

As the kind hostess explains, these habits include excellent and healthy Greek cuisine, books, good music, art, poetry and entertainment. All the furniture is authentic handmade antiques made between 1790 and 1950. Persian rugs brought from the Far East, Murano chandeliers have come from Izmir and Venice, while a collection of old elegant women's hats hang on the wall, to the delight of some gentlemen they want to try them.

The old Kefalonian word «Posada", As mentioned in a dictionary of local idioms, means a mansion built in a well-protected courtyard, but also a table formally laid. So, following these characteristics, apart from the unique environment that is dressed with all kinds of collections and special dining items, Katerina takes care to faithfully follow old healthy recipes dishes, cooking with organic products just like our grandmothers made them.

Having a distant kinship with him George Molfetta, Katerina makes a trip as an IBM executive, a wedding and two children, and at some point decides to set up in the village Faraklata the second and best dream of her life. "I make the mornings myself for my tenants, depending on everyone's tastes. I cook noon and night, so they can enjoy it genuine Kefalonian cuisine. I want them to have the feeling that they are coming to my house and I am hosting them ", she says, as the sun bathes her living room with a wonderful light. She probably achieved her dream.
