Diamantakou Estate

O George Diamantakos belongs to the new generation of wineries of Naoussa which gave a new impetus to its wines Naoussa. The vineyard is in place Cast iron, below Gastra and Karyda Estate and is new. It was planted in the late 1970s, when his grandfather was forced to leave his old vineyard because there, after excavations, the school of Aristotle was discovered. With the expropriation money, 40 acres were bought and today the territorial distribution is, xinomavro, 30 acres and preciniko, a "forgotten" indigenous variety with 10 acres planted in 2006.

We met George Diamantakos at the Diamantakos Estate at a time when work was being done in the vineyard and he told us:

«Most of the work in the vineyard is done manually, which allows the least strain on the plant and consequently the raw material. From each acre, although xinomavro is very productive, we do not get more than 600 kilos per acre. Our strategy is to produce the highest quality products we can. We produce 15.00-20.000 bottles - depending on the year - and 70% travel abroad, to America, to Canada, England. Our labels are two. THE red PDO Naoussa characterized by its polyphenolic potential as well as the ability to offer long maturing red wines.

The precinct is a white, local variety of the zone. It gives intensely aromatic wines, low to medium acidity and high alcohol content and is bottled on the estate as a single variety as its characteristics are very special».

The winery at the Diamantakou Estate located in the center of the vineyard. It is fully equipped with new technology tools for raw material processing and winemaking. It has wineries with stainless steel tanks, an underground cellar with oak barrels and storage of ready-made bottles, a distillery for the utilization of by-products as well as an oenological laboratory.

The main feature of the Diamantakos Estate is its elegance. Extremely "elegant" wines, corresponding elegant labels and a small but ultra-elegant cellar, where everything (cement mortars, barrels, floors, solid brick walls) stand out for their cleanliness and minimal aesthetics.
