Stavros Kokkinos

The Winery of Stavros Kokkinos is located in the area Dalamari at an altitude of 450 m., about 1,5 km outside the city Naoussa, on the road to the traditional settlement of Arkochori and is one of the newest in the area of Naoussa.

Ο Stavros Kokkinos, although with grandparents and great-grandparents viticulturists, he considers himself a first generation viticulturist, because he did not have particular experiences of viticulture, although he was a farmer in vegetables, apples, peaches. When he lost his father, in 2000 he obtained a tsipouro production license, installed the rakokazano on his father's farm in Dalamari and bought a vineyard in the area of Paliokalia, to use grapes and tsamboura. At first he gave grapes to a neighbor and 2007 he makes the big decision to turn a modern stall of his father into one visitable winery.

We visited in 2019 his estate, reminiscent of a house in the meadow. In the background the imposing slopes of Vermio, full of walnuts, oaks and beeches, and at your feet on a steep slope the 20 crowns of the vineyard that surrounds the winery. In the area Papakalia a sought-after vineyard, retains the old vineyard with roots of 1975, in their great maturity now, while receiving from 2-3 growers their grapes.

Facilities at the Kokkinos Winery include the main winery and bottling area, an underground cellar with 225 liter French oak barrels. as well as a traditional distillation and tasting room that can accommodate up to 70 people and, finally, a terrace with a mulberry tree that in summer creates a unique shade.

The first bottling took place in 2009.

Today, Kokkinou Winery produces around 30.000 bottles of wine while production capacity amounts to 50.000 bottles per year. All its vineyards are located within the PDO zone, the acreage yield is 750-800kg and the aging lasts from 1 year to 18 months.
