Organic Agriculture Wines - Vineyard - Winery

In the heart of the Xinomavro wine region, at Giannakochori, Imathia at the foot of Vermio and 7 km from Naoussa is the "Kelesidi Estate».

The Kelesidi Estate is a family affair. The Constantine with his wife Mary and their children, the Myrto and John they deal with the estate and the winery themselves, but also with the distribution of their wines in Greece and abroad (they export to Australia, Switzerland and Belgium). Under the guidance of the patriarch of the family - and founder of the company 1998 - Konstantinos Kelesidis, but also under the vigilant supervision of the ubiquitous Maria, the Kelesidis Estate has shown an upward quality course in recent years.

The family came to Greece as refugees from Pontos, who settled in 1930 in Giannakochori after a few years of searching for a place with an ideal climate. Grandpa Merhalis and his brother John, people with a passion and love for wine, planted the first vineyard in 1935.

New vineyard plantings began in 1985 Konstantinos Kelesidis and the family's first bottled wines were released in 1998.

The 45 acres of vineyards of the Kelesidis Estate are certified organic from 1997.

The Xinomavro is the predominant variety, they also cultivate Malaguzia, Merlot and Syrah.Wines age in oak barrels. They bottle about 10.000 bottles a year.

The ambition of the Kelesidis family is the production of high quality wines from organic grapes, with low acreage yields that will stand out for their organoleptic characteristics and their special taste.

The wines they produce are Μέρχαλι: Xinomavro PDO Naoussa, Eager: Xinomavro, Merlot, Syrah P.G.E. Imathia and Fragrant white: Xinomavro and Malagouzia P.G.E. Imathia.

The paternal stone house of the Kelesidis family was restored in 1998 and became accessible to wine lovers.

Since 1933 there is a cauldron for tsipouro production and the products they also produce in addition to wine are Xinomavro vine leaves, tsipouro and aged grappa, all organic.

We visited the Kelesidis Estate and we enjoyed the bonding and the hospitality of the beautiful Pontian family.

We enjoyed it the timeless, excellent and stable, quality of the wine Merhali (Xinomavro) Naoussa of the Kelesidis Estate from grapes of organic agriculture and traditional vinification and we were excited by the Arothymies (Xinomavro, Merlot, Syrah) which prove that there can be a lot of nose, rich and velvety in the mouth and depth that would envy quite dry.
