Bourtzi Restaurant
Bourtzi It is called the fortress on the small peninsula that divides the port of Skiathos in two. The fortress was founded by the Gizi brothers, who occupied it Shadow in 1207. It was walled with ramparts and loopholes and to the right and left of the gate had two round towers.
The fortress was destroyed in 1660 when the Venetian Admiral Francis Morosini occupied the island. After the liberation, the first disinfection of the island operated in Bourtzi, while in 1906 a primary school was built in the center of the peninsula, donated by Andreas Syggros.
From 1960 a section was given for fun and Bourtzi was made the most popular bars and discos of the island (in the 1960s the band Charms played music) and there was not a single person in Skiathos who did not have a sweet memory of this place.
Today, Bourtzi is truly a rare place of recreation, overgrown with pines, always cool, with magnificent views. In terms of activity, he is in the best phase of his 60-year life (because he went through periods of decline).
Since 2014, it has been undertaken by two young entrepreneurs, the architect, a businessman Dimitris Koliakos and Dimitris Rizos, which have shaped the Bourtzi, a place of high aesthetics where one can enjoy his coffee, his drink, breakfast, brunch, but also to try cold dishes, varieties of cheese, and some dishes "Teased" Greek cuisine accompanied by a list of Greek wines.
From Bourtzi cuisine we tried and we unreservedly recommend:
Octopus with pistachio pesto and lemon balm (a poem!)
Cod with honey sauce, Kozani yolk, sumac, fried capers
Fresh smoked tuna with avocado puree and citrus dressing
Baked eggplant with cherry tomatoes, cream cheese and fresh basil
Fresh french fries with parmesan and truffle oil
Roasted squid with fresh asparagus, fava with cuttlefish ink, lemon dressing and fresh thyme.
We spoke with Dimitris Rizos:
"The company Bourtzi belongs to Dimitris Koliakos who is the owner of the restaurant Skouna and the main pillar of our whole group that owns the restaurants besides Bourtzi (Skouna, Marmita, Artesanal, A lamar, Nami) and to me.
I was born in Belgium to Greek immigrants, lived for a while in Athens and professionally "became a man" in Spain, since 1995 taking the first steps in one of my uncle's Greek restaurants. I then partnered with a catering company in the catering sector with around 500 restaurants across Spain with themed cuisines.
The specific collaboration had the idea to create a new series of stores around Greek food that were opened with my guidance to about 20 stores throughout Spain.
In general, I feel that since then I have been "selling" Greece. After other new collaborations mainly with the well-known in Barcelona Grupo Tragaluz in 2008 I returned to Greece, after a very big change in my life, and found myself in Skiathos, and Bourtzi emerged in 2014 through the auction process.
Bourtzi has always been an emblematic hangout of Skiathos and we wanted to open a bigger and higher quality "fan" of food and beverage services.
Also because of the point, we want Bourtzi to be a welcome in Greece That's why we want the brands, the products we work with (coffee, soft drinks, wines, spirits, beers) to be mostly Greek. We want Bourtzi to be the best ambassador of Greece in Skiathos ".
We confirm it with confidence and knowledge.
