Ouzo Kalo Pigadi

As long as I think I would finish the first recording of its most authentic stores Skiathos without including it Good Well, I get caught in the middle! Because now that I came across it by chance, I can describe it as the most well hidden gastronomic hangout of the island.

The reasons I had failed so far are many. It does not refer to any of the best options presented by gastronomic guides, except for TripAdvisor and is generally almost non-existent in the digital space. And yet it is located in the heart of Skiathos, for 33 years. And when I later asked my cordial friends why they did not tell me, they would smile and answer me: “But, well, this is out of competition!"

Indeed, Kalo Pigadi is out of competition, because none of what it offers comes from any other place, except local fishermen or local farmers.

At a distance of 500 meters from the beach, hidden behind the school, is the ouzo of fishermen, workers and some "wanted". Nothing sophisticated, nothing fancy. A gabled tent that operates from March to December - the rest of the time people are crowded inside the store - and a net on the wall, popular decoration, to remind the origin of the appetizers.

A family o John and Zoi Paschalis and their son o Nick offer their bird milk to their customers. We tried:

Pounds (sweet Skiathos zucchini), octopus vinegar, salad (skate salad), roasted tuna, cuttlefish eggs, cuttlefish cooked with zucchini, them amazing shrimp meatballs, boiled shrimp, fava with anchovies, braces with garlic and other tsipouro appetizers.

«I was on the ships, and 33 years ago I said to do something, in my homeland. I open the shop and get a cook, all day with a whiskey in hand. The season is over and I tell Mrs. Zoe. You cook, we will do better!»

As it happened, Mrs. Zoe flies and Mr. Giannis commands the supplies, his orders with the fishermen to have the necessities all year round.

Their son was born the year the store opened and is now dedicated to it.

Such family shops, gastronomic forts Every place, they may not need our recognition, as they have the love and respect of the locals. But I consider it my duty to say, because the good reason never hurt anyone, that I bowed to the gastronomic ethos of the family and ranked it first among the big and small of the island.

GASTRONOMIC COMMUNITY OF SKIATHOS

The professionals of the wider area of ​​gastronomy of Skiathos (agricultural sector - processing - catering - hospitality), with the support of the Municipality of Skiathos, collaborate and created the Gastronomic Community of Skiathos. Their goal is to record and highlight the gastronomic wealth, as well as the quality gastronomic offer of Skiathos.

The Gastronomic Community of Skiathos is an open system in which those who are interested and meet the conditions arising from the regulations of the Gastronomy and Wine Tourism program can join. The ultimate goal of the action is to make Skiathos a tourist destination, where gastronomy will play a leading role in shaping the identity and cultural identity of the place.
