H Platanos tavern is located high above its city Skiathos, buried in a cluster of plane trees that surround the old source which supplied water, gardens and people, between its small churches Prophet Elias and Prophet Elisha.

The spring was so strong that around it and downhill, on the slopes of the mountain, pergolas had formed, which were watered by the running water of the spring and led to them by ditches. Many of the vegetables of Skiathos were produced here in the old days, while nowadays few fanatics continue to cultivate their orchards.

At this point the 1990 η Violet family, in a family estate, where there was a large farmhouse, they built a tavern with 5-6 tables in a covered courtyard overlooking Skiathos. In 2000 the road was widened and asphalted the tavern Platanos was taken over by George and Maria Dioleta.

In 2010 there was a significant expansion of the terrace and the store took about the form it has now.

George maintains his fishing license and generally fishes with vertical and trolling large fish, which when he catches he notifies the known customers to cook them, while he does not miss the opportunity to show his customers the story when he is in the tavern of Skiathos, through the photos and the history of his family that are hung on a wall.

Platanos serves fresh salads with vegetables from the garden, an irresistible Skiathos cheese pie or fennel vegetable pie that due to the dew rests in the area until August, and other cooked or grilled foods.

The store opens in the morning and serves all day, with a more attractive time to visit the sunset, where the colors of the island are particularly seductive.

The enjoyment of the view and the food in the tavern is worth accompanying with a visit to the two churches and a walk to the adjacent winery Parissi with its excellent wines.
