Η Skiathos, the island of Papadiamantis, the island with the 62 unique beaches and the great tourist reputation, acquired another very important weapon in its tourist quiver, the Paris winery, one of the most beautiful small wineries in Greece with very interesting local wines.

Built 100 meters above the prophet Elijah, a small church on the slopes of the mountain located in the back of the city of Skiathos and in a lush forest of pines, spruce and plane trees, on a plateau where a vineyard was planted, the winery stands as a small jewel.

The architecture of the minimal, a simple rectangular building, a marriage of stone walls and white plastered masonry, with bold openings and meridian orientation, focuses on the panoramic view of Skiathos, which looks like a beautiful creek through the trees.

Its creator is Giannis Parissis, an amateur little viticulturist who over time became a passionate friend and wine producer and in his fifties a professional winemaker.

The youngest child of a 9-member poor family, Giannis was born in 1965, with his father Charalambos, a farmer, viticulturist, he learned the art of viticulture and the olive tree. At that time Skiathos had productive olive groves and many millstones (taliagres), two of the most important were in the city and were converted into a restaurant (Borzoi), and 2 hotels (Pothos, Bourtzi).

He loses his father by accident and from the age of 12 he leaves school and is thrown into the bio-fight, construction, waiter, barges in a gas station during the Persian era! The 90's find him the owner of the bar Digs, who made history on the island, with a fishing boat and with invisible hair!

In 2001, Giannis Parissis met his wife Maria and in 2005 he left the nightlife. Order has been irreparably restored in his life!

They make some rooms for rent and is devoted to wine, cultivates and expands viticulture, finds a vineyard near some of his grandfather's estates and prepares for the big move. Until it is done, he experiments with wines, acquires a local reputation as a carpenter and every year, the Skiathos are waiting for them how and how to try them.

In 2020 the Paris Winery is ready.

Thirty acres of vines - which grow every year -, a modern winery with a capacity of 30.000 bottles, oenologist of Skiathos origin Katerina Mitzelou, which has collaborated in Santorini at the Sigala winery, tasteful tasting areas, high quality wines, especially rhodite and malagouzia, a view that is not full and two owners, Giannis and Maria, creative, hardworking and loving, willing to make you feel beautiful. What more could one want?

GASTRONOMIC COMMUNITY OF SKIATHOS

The professionals of the wider area of ​​gastronomy of Skiathos (agricultural sector - processing - catering - hospitality), with the support of the Municipality of Skiathos, collaborate and created the Gastronomic Community of Skiathos. Their goal is to record and highlight the gastronomic wealth, as well as the quality gastronomic offer of Skiathos.

The Gastronomic Community of Skiathos is an open system in which those who are interested and meet the conditions arising from the regulations of the Gastronomy and Wine Tourism program can join. The ultimate goal of the action is to make Skiathos a tourist destination, where gastronomy will play a leading role in shaping the identity and cultural identity of the place.

The Gastronomic Communities program has the honor of being under the auspices of the Hellenic Tourism Organization.
