The family business Ambelonas Corfu, at the top of a hill with panoramic views of Middle Corfu, is one multi-space, which combines a permanent exhibition with tools and objects of pre-industrial period, which were traditionally used for the production of wine and oil, a vineyard with local varieties and natural wild vegetation, but also a tasteful, flexible space for entertainment and artistic events. A large fire in 1999, which destroyed much of the area, was the reason for the creation of this estate in its current form, in the area belonging since 1600 to the noble family Ventura, who had come to Corfu from Venice.

Decisive presence in Ambelonas Corfu is Vasiliki Karounou, an IT scientist from Mystras, Laconia, who at the beginning of 2000, decided that Athens no longer suited her. Looking for a job outside Athens, he found himself in Corfu, where he initially worked as an IT consultant. Vassiliki's love for the island had already begun to be born in her, along with the desire to highlight the gastronomic tradition, rich and multidimensional, of Corfiot cuisine. In 2008, he set up a small business, the Wake up, preparing a wide range of original products based on forgotten recipes, but also combining modern ideas about healthy eating.

Her book "Corfu Cuisine - looking for her lost cannibals»(Patakis publications) is an ode to gastronomic wealth of Corfu, in its traditional products and of course on recipes lost in the depths of the long-suffering history of the island.

Vassiliki, making her hobby a profession, seeks gastronomic pleasure by cooking traditional recipes with modern techniques. Today, at Ambelonas Corfu operates three days a week one restaurant a la carte, there are events and receptions (weddings, etc.), but also visits by groups that want to tour its premises. The production of wine is small, in bottles without a label, while in showroom you can find Acordo products, award-winning from Gourmet Awards, such as lavender jelly, sun-dried tomato paste with kumquat, wild myrtle jelly, chutney with kiwi, prickly pear and kumquat.
