Tula restaurant in Agni

The Tula restaurant (Toula's Gastronomy Restaurant) in the beautiful bay of the beach Pure is one of the most famous and much talked about tourist restaurants Corfu after from 1981 has hosted the most important personalities who have passed through the island.

We met Mrs. Tula, a woman out of heart and told us about her life:

«I was born in 1955 in this place and in my childhood I was excellent in my studies, with grades of twenty and I wanted to become a doctor and enroll in Doctors Without Borders, until I fell in love with my current husband and we decided to stay here and convert it. old olive press of our grandfather, old building of 1890 in a tavern.

At that time there was no road to the beach, and things and visitors came in boats and small boats. We opened with 4-5 tables on the shore. Difficult times, year after year things changed for the better especially since 1992, when we connected with the road.

My first dishes were local cuisine and fish, flavors that the customers liked and so it finally seemed that I had a hand and talent in cooking.

In 2002 I publish the book Korfiatika flavors of the divine godmother, a book with all the recipes of the traditional cuisine of Corfu.»

At that time, her son enters Nikos Vergetis at work with fresher perceptions and since then Mrs. Tula has been successfully tested in her field creative cuisine with recipes of the island, but also of the Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes for more demanding palates and cosmopolitan gastronomic habits.

Despite all the innovations, the signature plate of the restaurant remains Tula shrimp, a station dish for the shop, with sauteed rice, pine nuts and pepper from the oldest recipes of the cook.

We tried and they took us off the soft and delicious taramosalata, the octopus mosaic with oil, onion, oregano and pink pepper, the cigarette, a local Corfiot dish with mountain greens, spicy taste and lemon juice, the excellent bourdéte and the most ham the subversive crayfish moussaka, the wild yellow tuna tagliatelle, the lobster burger, the royal combs with Parmesan and Kozani yolk, lobster juvette and the classic seafood risotto.

A rich wine list with more than 140 Greek and international selected labels of wines and spirits - Nikos' choices - accompany and complete each meal.

The numerous awards of Tula and the references in print and electronic media were the result of a systematic work. And it is no coincidence that the restaurant is the hangout not only of the famous foreign visitors who live in the surrounding area, but also of the most important personalities of Greece and abroad who arrive in Corfu.

The truth that the secluded and romantic landscape of Agni bay with the olives reaching the sea, the peaceful atmosphere and the excellent treatment of the Tula store impresses and enchants the visitors as recently Tom Parker Bowles author of the Daily Mail who vividly describing the dishes he tasted with his friends concludes that Homer would also be proud of this tavern!
