Corfu Distillery Mavromatis

Η Mavromatis Distillery is a family business. Her first workshop was opened in 1965 in the city of Corfu, and she specialized in the development of kumquat in sweets and liqueurs. In 1984 it was transferred to the road to Paleokastritsa and in 2008 it is relocated to a state-of-the-art factory. The production absorbs 80% of the raw material of the island.

The company "Mavromatis" utilizes the 300 kumquat trees of its estate, and receiving the production of another 25 growers, produces 8 tons of kumquat drink and 30 tons of dessert. The company started with the processing and bottling of kumquat in liqueur and then expanded to create 30 different codes of processed products (twenty different types of liqueur, brandy, dessert, jam, Turkish delights with kumquat, cookie cookies, etc.). The protagonist of all products is red kumquat, with 22 or 25 degrees of alcohol, a liqueur with a unique taste and aroma made from the skin of the fruit. It is served plain, with ice cubes or mixed with juices or strong drinks (vodka, brandy, whiskey, etc.). Adds a unique aroma to fruit salads, yogurt, ice cream and sweets.

In the impressive showroom of "Mavromatis Distillery" the visitor has the opportunity, at the end of the tour, to see all the products on display in a large tasting counter, to try them for free and to buy them at cost prices. There is also a video projector available where phases from all stages of production are presented kumquat in liqueurs and sweets. It is no coincidence that there is always a crowd of coaches and private cars at the entrance of the business from all those who want to taste and procure this golden fruit of the of Corfu land.

The new generation of Mavromatis, Aris - from a young age in production - and his sister, are the guarantors of the continuity and steady course of this brilliant Corfiot business.
